ABOUT IRAP HANDCRAFT WORKSHOP

IRAP established the Handcraft Sheltered Workshop for Deaf and Hard of Hearing in 1960. The purpose was to create in-house jobs for the disabled helping them find a career where they can fulfill themselves, be productive and become active members in the society. IRAP Scheltered handcraft in Ain Aar produces wonderful canvas textures including crochet, towels, fabric napkins, straw baskets, carpets, home decoration, Christmas decoration, Easter Crafts and more. Sweetest production meets daily orders for hotels, home decorations, villas, restaurants and exhibitions.

Under the direction of IRAP administration, the Handcraft Sheltered Workshop ensures the highest quality of sewing standards are met.

WHO IS SEWING?

Workers in the Handcraft Workshop are the students who have completed their studies. They engage on daily basis in sewing, lining, needlework, knitting; earning at the same time an occupational therapy and an actual source of income. Rehabilitation and long-term custody is what IRAP offers these students, eventually what the open labor market fails to.

Workers creating these wonderful items are impaired children who acquired these technical skills with the help of highly specialized trainers in the field of sewing, lining, needlework, knitting, embroidery and textile arts. The use of sewing machines in an effective way, with minimum waste, remains one of the most challenging tasks our students are opened-up to each day. Producing innovated motifs and decorating fabric with needle, thread, yarn, pearls and beads remains one of the fundamentals of our  Hand-crafting workshop that makes our production very unique and with the finest quality.
