PHILOSOPHY
When approaching a particular project, the architects, planners and engineers comprising the Group focus on the concepts of the “ Hybrid theory”, are postulating that architecture as well as urban and social structures should enhance the ambivalent, heterogeneous nature of man.
This theory, which has inherently been manifest in every culture, aims to probe the interrelationship between architecture and nature, man and technology, history and the future, and various differing cultures by creating intermediacy and having these elements supplements each other.
In applying these concepts, the practicing consultant includes in each project plan and understanding of how the structural and causal variables are integrated within a constantly changing environment.
The group thus strives to discover the best possible solutions for concrete social needs.
A MULTI-DOMESTIC FIRM
ARTLAND has three internal contradictions that made its strength:
- It wants to be global and local.
- It wants to be big and small.
- It is radically decentralized with centralized reporting and control.
ARTLAND uses a matrix structure to organize its activities:
- Allows global optimization of business.
- Maximize performance in each country.
ARTLAND CHALLENGES
Increased Complexity over more and different activities:
- Product, function, customer, geography.
- Balancing divergent pressures.
- Global & multi-domestics.
- Activities across value chain.
- Responsiveness to individual countries.
